This small but essential rubber or silicone ring fits around the NTC sensor (thermistor) where it enters the heating element or washing machine tub.

The primary function of this gasket is to prevent water leaks from the sensor mounting point during the wash cycle. If your original seal is perished, hardened, or damaged, replacing this gasket will restore the water-tight integrity of the machine.

This gasket should be replaced whenever the heating element or the NTC probe itself is replaced or re-seated to ensure a perfect seal.
