Returns & Refunds
At How-to-repair.com, we want you to be satisfied with your purchase. However, we understand that sometimes issues can occur or you may change your mind. Please read our returns policy below carefully.
14-Day Return Period
You have the right to return your order within 14 days of receiving it.
To request a return, please submit your return request through your customer account.
Once your return request has been reviewed and approved, you will receive an email containing the return instructions and return authorisation details.
Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items
If your item:
- arrives damaged,
- is faulty,
- does not function correctly,
- or you received the wrong item,
please submit a return request through your customer account or contact us via our Order Help form before returning the item.
All components sold by How-to-repair.com are individually tested before dispatch to ensure they leave our warehouse fully functioning and in working condition.
If an item has been damaged in transit by the courier, we will arrange or reimburse the return postage where appropriate.
Once your request has been reviewed, you will receive an email with the appropriate return instructions.
Please inspect your order upon delivery and notify us immediately if there is an issue.
Change of Mind Returns
If you change your mind about a purchase, you may return the item within 14 days of delivery.
Please note:
- The customer is responsible for return postage costs.
- The customer is responsible for ensuring the item is returned safely and received by us.
- We strongly recommend using a tracked delivery service.
- We cannot be held responsible for returned items lost in transit.
Returned items must be:
- unused,
- uninstalled,
- in their original packaging,
- and in resaleable condition.
Restocking & Handling Deduction
A 10% deduction may be applied to change-of-mind returns where the packaging has been opened or where handling, inspection, repackaging, or processing is required before the item can be resold.
This deduction reflects:
- testing and quality control procedures,
- administrative processing,
- repackaging costs,
- and reduction in resale value once packaging has been opened.
This deduction does not apply to items that are faulty, incorrectly supplied, or damaged in transit.
Installed or Used Components
We cannot accept returns for items that:
- have been installed,
- used,
- physically damaged,
- modified,
- or returned in a condition different from how they were supplied.
Due to the nature of electrical and appliance components, once installed, we cannot guarantee the integrity or future reliability of the part.
Non-Returnable Items
The following items are non-returnable:
- Special order items
- Custom or personalised products
- Hazardous materials, liquids or gases
- Sale or clearance items
- Gift cards

Exchanges
The quickest way to exchange an item is to place a new order and return the unwanted item separately once approved.
EU & UK Consumer Cooling-Off Rights
If your order is delivered within the United Kingdom or European Union, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days for any reason under applicable distance selling regulations.
Items must still be returned:
- unused,
- uninstalled,
- with original packaging,
- and in resaleable condition.
We reserve the right to make deductions from refunds where the value of goods has been reduced due to excessive handling beyond what would reasonably be expected in a retail environment.
Refunds
Once your return has been received and inspected, we will notify you whether your refund has been approved.
If approved:
- refunds will be issued to the original payment method,
- typically within 10 business days.
Please note that banks and payment providers may require additional processing time.
