I have a Zanussi ZWD81660NW Washer Dryer.How do I clean out the condensor as it is part of the back of the drum which I think is stopping full heat.Have cheacked all the stats and elements.Have tried a drum cleaner which has made a little bit better

Hi Barry, thank you for your question about your Zanussi washer dryer. You’re in luck! I recently made a video on how washer dryers work, which I’ll include below this article.

Your Zanussi ZWD81660NW has three variations, so be sure to check your full model number from the identification plate inside the door or on the back of the machine before ordering parts.

I’ve managed to get the workshop manual for your machine. It’s very detailed with 152 pages of repair procedures. I also have the wiring diagrams, a list of error codes, and the diagnostic procedure for the machine.

Clearing the condensing unit can be tricky, but the workshop manual explains it well. At the bottom of this page, you’ll find an exploded diagram of the heating unit on top of the machine. Remove all screws and separate it from the machine to access part of the condensing unit. You can use an airline or a small brush attached to a stiff wire to clear it.

If your dryer is having trouble condensing water, it will take longer to heat and dry clothes. This machine likely has a single heating element, not a dual one, so there’s only one circuit to test. Check that the cold water valve for the drying cycle is not open circuit, as this can affect condensation. Ensure there’s a small trickle of water going down the condensing unit.

Also, check the sump hose and pump where water collects and is extracted from the machine. Watching my video on how washer dryers work will give you more insight into what to look for.
