Zanussi ZOB343X Cooker Oven Trips the RCD

My Zanussi ZOB343X oven trips the RCD as soon as the temperature knob is turned. I am able to select the oven mode using the left hand knob, but as soon as the temperature knob is turned it trips. It trips in oven and grill mode which leads me to believe that it might not be a faulty element. The oven is only 2 years old and has hardly been used.

Hi Asa, sorry to hear about the problem with your Zanussi oven. Firstly, you might be right; this could be an issue with the fan oven element, depending on which setting you are using on the selector switch.

The most important thing to remember is never to turn the selector switch when the thermostat is on. They are not designed to handle high amperage.

There is a video below that will explain everything. Be aware that there are a few variations of your model, so keep this in mind when ordering parts.

The easiest way to test it is by disconnecting the fan oven element. Remove the live and neutral wires from each side of the element and insulate them. Then, plug the oven back in, turn it on, and set the temperature to 150 degrees on the correct setting. If it does not trip, then the fan oven element is likely the issue. It is straightforward to change.

I have managed to get you the wiring diagram, workshop manual, and exploded diagrams of your machine. You will see the fan oven element is labelled as 500C in the diagram. Make sure to use your full PNC number from the identification plate when ordering parts.
