Paul can you help. After no use for 7 months Zanussi ZKC5030W1 Cooker Oven was used to cook a meal without a problem . Next time cooker power switch was turned on it tripped mains. And continues to do so. After checking fan oven element as per your video I’m getting 25.9 ohms. Within your suggested readings. Not getting any reading when checking element for going to ground ( multi meter from live terminal to element outer casing). What else on the cooker may cause house mains tripping

Hi Mr Michael K McConville sorry about your problem. The ohms really do make a difference when an element is tripping. This usually indicates that electricity is leaking to earth. To test the element properly, you’ll need a megger or insulation tester. You might have seen me using one in some of my recent videos on how to test elements.

The first thing I would do is disconnect the cooker from the electricity supply. Then, using insulation tape, I’d remove each wire from the element and tape them up individually to ensure they’re safe and won’t create a short. This is a simple way to diagnose whether the issue is with the element itself or the cooker.

Once all the wires are safely insulated, you can plug the cooker back in, power it up, set the timer to manual, and test each function: fan oven, grill, and base element. This will help you determine which part is faulty.

In my opinion, the fan oven element is likely leaking to earth, but you should test it to confirm. I've also added wiring diagram, service manual exploded diagrams of your machine with reference numbers for further parts if needed.
