Zanussi TCE7124W Tumble Dryer Faulty Heater Or Not?

Customer Question

Phil asks:

Hi Paul - I have followed your youTube video Condenser Tumble Dryer not heating AEG, Electrolux, Zanussi etc May 6, 2016. I want to test my heater element and there are 5 terminals on the block having removed the heater and its wiring. The 5 terminals in order are Blue, Red, Blue, Black, White. Using my multimeter to test for continuity, I am putting the black probe on either of the two blue contacts and the red probe on the red contact in the block. My analogue meter needle does not shift on either blue contacts to the centre red. Do I take it that the heater is useless and needs replacing? There is continuity on blue to blue on the Common. There is continuity on the black to white contacts. The exposed temperature sensors on the side of the heater body both have continuity. The temperature sensor up inside the drum has continuity too.My Zanussi TCE7124W tumble dryer, when on, heats minimally and cuts out after about 25 minutes leaving damp towel not fully dry - as a test. Thanks in advance for your help.Best regards,Phil

Paul Says:

I will try and help with this problem about Zanussi TCE7124W Tumble Dryer,

Hi Phil, I'm sorry to hear about your tumble dryer issues. I've found some information to help you out. I don't have your machine in front of me, so I can't be exact, but I've got the wiring diagram and workshop manual for you. These will show you which terminals to test for continuity in the element. Remember, there are usually a couple of thermostats on these elements: a cut-out thermostat for overheating and a cycling thermostat.

While you're working on the machine, be sure to clean any fluff from the ducting units at the bottom, especially around the condenser. This is often why machines overheat. In the exploded diagram below, this is listed as number 146. It's also important to check the pump unit to ensure it's moving water to the collection box.

I've included a full list of parts and all relevant workshop manuals and wiring diagrams below to assist you. With this information, you should be able to figure out what's wrong. Also, if possible, clean the two blades attached to the motor (numbers 159 and 159A) since fluff can gather there and block airflow. There's also a forward thermostat shown in the exploded diagram as number 48.

For more guidance on accessing these parts, refer to our attached videos or search for AEG Electrolux or Zanussi on YouTube. Any of these videos should help with your dryer
