I will try and help with this problem about Thermador PG486GEBS/01 Range Cooker Oven,
What I’d like to know is how long the cooling fan has been running. Have you given it enough time? Cooling fans can run for up to half an hour after the oven has been switched off.
If it’s running constantly, I would assume there is a constant feed going to the fan. The fan shouldn’t be running constantly after the machine is cooling down unless something is wrong.
There is a thermostat that normally turns the cooling fan on once the cavity between the inner oven and the outer part exceeds a certain temperature. For example, it’s usually around 70°C. Once the thermostat is activated, the fan starts running. After you finish cooking and turn the cooker off, the fan will continue to run until the cooker drops below 70°C.
If the cooling fan doesn’t turn off at all, it usually means the thermostat has become faulty and is not opening the circuit, therefore constantly supplying power to the fan. Turning off the cooker at the mains will disconnect the power supply, which will stop the cooling fan. This could cause it to become an open circuit.
So, I would definitely check the thermostat. I don’t think there’s anything else that could be causing the issue. It could possibly be the selector switch, but that’s very rare, especially on the low-loading side of things. The cooling fan typically only draws around 50 watts.
Make sure the wiring is correct as well. If a live wire is mixed up with a neutral wire at the rear, that could cause an issue.
If you’ve already worked on the machine, it’s difficult for us to diagnose the problem because we don’t know if any wiring has been changed or if something might have been wired incorrectly.
