Hi Paul. I have a Siemens WM14T6E8DN/13 Washing Machine. Thanks for your videos!! Gives me the confidence that I can replace ball bearings on our noisy washing machine myself. One big problem though: I spent a whole evening trying to figure out which kind of ball bearing to get, and where. But both parts are completely eluding my Google skills. I know it is a long shot, but would you know what the part is and where to get it...?

It’s always worth using quality bearings. At the end of the day, a bearing will only last for a certain period of time because you can't grease them or do much else to maintain them. They’re sealed bearings, and the most important thing when replacing them is to make sure you have the correct seal.

When replacing the bearings on these machines, you really want to ensure that the shaft on the spider is in good condition and that the seal fits properly. Sometimes, I apply a little bit of Vaseline on the edge of the seal, which helps. There are special lubricants you can use, but if any water gets into the bearings, it will cause wear over time.

Genuine Siemens and Bosch bearings are good quality, and the main thing when installing bearings is to ensure that the weep hole, which lets the water out of the bearing housing, is clear. Ideally, use a proper tool to insert the bearings. If you just tap them in with a mallet, you’ll likely be back in there soon because the bearing might get damaged.

You can search sites like eBay and Facebook for a second-hand machine with the same model number but a different fault, like an electrical issue. Then you can use the spare part you need.
