Samsung WF90F5E5U4X/EU Washing Machine Won’t Drain

August 13, 2024
Customer Question

I have samsung WF90F5E5U4X/EU washing machine and replaced both pumps checked all pipes connected to it. New filter was part of pump assembly. It will drain manually, if drain hose is lowered. Clean water coming out. So no apparent blockage. Initially it gave SE or 5E errorPut on a spin. It then seemed to back fill, made clothes dirty then soap suds started leaking from soap dispenser and "Suds" error.Since then it won't drain on it's own. Is there a sensor or something I'm missing? Or is it the board. Machine is around 8years old. Is it just a new machine now?

I will try and help with this problem about Samsung WF90F5E5U4X/EU Washing Machine,

Hi Ross,

Sorry to hear about the problem with your Samsung washing machine. Let's tackle this step by step. First, empty the machine of any water. Then, check two things:

1. The sump hose: This hose attaches to the bottom of the drum and goes to the pump. Remove it completely. Some hoses have a ball inside, which is an anti-siphon device. Check for any small items of clothing lodged in the hose. While the hose is off, use a torch to inspect the drum for any small items, like a sock, wrapped around the heater.

2. The waste pipe fitting: Ensure there are no blockages at the end. If it's connected to a sink unit, make sure there's no blockage there either.

If these checks are fine, move on to the next steps:

1. Printed circuit board: If you know electrics and have a multimeter, connect it to the two wires going to the pump (ensure it's disconnected when doing this). Use crocodile clips or another method to secure the probes to the pump electrics. Turn the machine on to spin cycle and watch your multimeter for voltage. If you don't have a multimeter, you can get a new one via our multimeter affiliate link.

2. Pump motor type: Check if your pump motor is AC or DC. Most are AC. Adjust your meter setting accordingly.

If you get the correct voltage (usually 240 AC), electricity is reaching the pump, ruling out a circuit board problem. If there's no voltage, there could be an issue with the circuit board, wiring, or possibly the pressure switch.

Unfortunately, I can't provide technical information on this machine as the manufacturer doesn't release workshop manuals or wiring diagrams to us or the public. It's frustrating given we're in an era advocating for repairability with the Right to Repair Act.

I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, feel free to contact us. I have also added some videos below that are worth watching, especially the one with regards intermittent electrical faults

All the Best Paul
