Samsung Ecobubble 8kg Washing Machine 5E Code and Not Spinning

Customer Question

Hello, Just been watching your excellent youtube videos about Samsung washer problems. My Samsung Ecobubble 8kg Washing Machine stopped mid cycle and showed the 5e code. Our filter is spotless and I know there is a strong flow when the washer is emptying (we brought the hose down to floor level to make sure the hose wasn't blocked and it ran very well. The washer now won't usually spin. I tried the diagnostic mode but it wouldn't spin for that either. The pumps seem to be working OK on the test mode and a couple of times the washer has started working after an hour or so. Much much appreciate any thoughts you might have please. Thanks

I will try and help with your problem with Samsung Ecobubble 8kg Washing Machine

Hi Steve, I hope you're doing well. Thanks for your kind words about the videos, it means a lot. You didn't mention your model number, so I can't look up specifics, but I can give you some general advice.

The main issue with these machines is often a faulty hall sensor on the motor or problems with emptying water in the set time. I've made several videos on this topic. One I recommend watching is about inspecting the sump hose, which connects the drum to the pump. Sometimes small clothing items get stuck in this hose, slowing down water flow to the pump and causing the machine not to empty in time.

Next, take apart the pump to check for any obstructions like elastic bands or small items wrapped around the impeller. This could slow down the impeller and affect emptying speed. Also, if your machine connects to a sink unit with a bayonet fitting, fat from sink water might build up and restrict flow.

You mentioned it works on a test cycle but didn't say if it works in situ. That's why I'm suggesting these checks. Since you didn't provide your model number, I can't tell if it has a direct drive or an older motor with carbon brushes. If it's the latter, inspect the carbon brushes by removing the motor from the bottom of the machine.

For direct drive motors, look at the hall sensor and check wiring from the motor and hall sensor to the circuit board. Some models have an imbalance load indicator that could give false readings. I'll attach relevant videos below for you to watch.

I hope this helps fix your problem. Apologies for not being more specific without your full model number.
