hi Terence sorry to hear about your problem with Miele W916 washer. You should definitely check the shock absorbers. If they are worn out and there’s too much bounce in the machine, it will restrict the spin. In older generations of machines, this is the number one cause of spin issues.

Another thing to check is the pipe, which runs from the side of the pump and goes up into the waste system. If this pipe becomes blocked it can also restrict high spin. However, the most likely issue is the shock absorbers. If you notice extreme fluctuation when you push the drum up and down, then the shocks definitely need replacing. The circuit board detects an imbalanced load and prevents the machine from reaching high spin speed.

In most cases, the shocks are the main culprit in older machines like the Miele. If the pipe is free, also check the suspension legs, as they can sometimes clog and affect performance. Lastly, make sure the machine is draining all the water within the allocated time.
