LG WT7880HWA Washing Machine Overflow Of Water

I received a pressure switch that is allegedly bad and caused an overflow of water. I ordered a new LG pressure switch to compare and contrast the switches. They seem visually similar, and test similarly "good" between Pins 1 and 3, as the resistance must be between 21-23 plus or minus 10%, which they are. I think I need to test the frequency, but am struggling with the setup. I don't have access to my LG WT7880HWA washing machine, but have stuff like power supplies, multimeters, and an oscilloscope. Thank you! Also, do you have access to wiring diagrams or factory/technician service manuals for this model? It would greatly help. Thank you!

I'm sorry to hear about the problem with your LG washing machine. I found a service manual for this machine online, and I hope it helps you. Many modern pressure switches work on frequency, but you have the old type, which is a mechanical switch with contacts that open and close at certain pressures. These switches may indicate one, two, or three water levels.

The frequency system sends the pressure amount from the pressure switch to the circuit board, which then figures out the water level in the machine. Unfortunately, manufacturers do not make all their data public, not even to engineers.

Make sure there is no sludge buildup in the pressure bowl area. Also, check that the pipe from the pressure area to the pressure switch is in perfect condition without any holes. I can't give you detailed information on the pressure switch itself. If the frequency changes as water fills the machine, it means it's reading things correctly. The issue might be with either the pressure switch or the circuit board. Usually, it's one or the other. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

I could not find a service manual for the exact same model number but a service manual for the LG WT7880HWA washing machine.
