To check if anything is rubbing the drum, you can either remove the sump hose and look from the bottom or take out the heating element to inspect the space between the inner and outer drum.

From your description, it sounds like the drum is touching the door seal on one side but not the other. This suggests that the spider on the drum may have collapsed or the drum might be warped. This often happens if someone has used the machine with a heavy, imbalanced load.

It can also be an issue in hard water areas or if you've used detergents that attack the aluminium spider holding the drum to the bearing shaft. Sometimes these corrode and fracture, causing the drum to lean to one side.

To confirm this, you would need to strip the machine completely. I've made a video on dismantling LG washing machines which should help you.
