Lamona LAM3400 Fan Oven Tripping Electrics When Reaching Temperature

I just bought a house and the Lamona LAM3400 7728986362 fan oven has a fault. As the oven (rear element or grill) reach temperature the power cuts out at the fuse board. I can cycle through all the oven functions without issue. I can use the grill or the rear element, with or without fan assist, and I get the same issue.I tried setting the temperature low (75) and the power cut, presumably as it reached that temperature. I then turned the thermostat up to 150, turned the power on and the oven worked again for a while till it cut, presumably because it reached 150. The same thing happened at 200 degrees.It appears to be a fault in whatever part of the oven controls the ‘I’ve reached temperature so now I’ll switch off’ function. I’m unsure if that would be the thermostat or some other part.Any advice greatly appreciated. Your videos are fantastic.You already helped me diagnose a fault with the washing machine in my new place.

Hi, good morning. I've given you the workshop wiring diagram to help diagnose the problem. Sometimes elements can go to earth when they warm up. I suspect one or more elements are leaking electricity to the earth, causing the RCD in your fuse board to trip.

It's hard to identify which element it is without an insulation tester, also known as a mega. This device measures earth leakage under load. You could try disconnecting the grill element, ensuring the terminal ends are insulated, then turning the oven on again. However, I suspect it's the fan oven element that's going to earth.

Another possible cause could be the selector switch or thermostat. Check these for burning or damage on the terminals and rotor points. Based on my experience, it's likely a faulty element. The fan oven element isn't expensive and might be worth replacing.

The part number for the heating element is 262900090. If you enter this into the link in the sidebar, you should find the fan oven element for your cooker
