Kapas KPSXWJ01 Countertop Dishwasher Keeps Prompting E3 Error

July 10, 2024

Customer Question

Kyle asks:

I left for in-laws for a day, left the Kapas KPSXWJ01 countertop dishwasher on to go while I was gone. When I came back, after it had been running for more than 24 hours, it was steadily beeping and displaying an E3 error code. I checked the manual - it stated this is caused by "overflow", and that I should tip the machine back at an angle and let the water drain out of it as much as I can. After doing this for some time, as well as trying my luck at taking it apart, the tilting seemingly fixed the issue for a moment - but while running it, the error reappeared momentarily before going away again. I ran a cycle with no issue and have another going just to double check. I'd be interested in seeing your take on it - while the model is similar to the Midea one in your video and guide, it is not the absolute same. There are other models which are much more similar and which seem to have actual support from a brand named HAVA. I've reached out to them and I'm waiting to see what they might say about it. If you can find any information about how to prevent the issue, I'd love to know. Thanks.

I will try and help with this problem about Kapas KPSXWJ01 Countertop Dishwasher,

Hi Kyle, thanks for your question. Yes, the machine does look very similar to the Midea dishwasher I reviewed before. It's likely made by the same manufacturer. The E3 error code usually means there's a leak or water has gotten into the base of the machine.

To fix this, tilt the machine slightly and remove the base. Be careful, as there are usually two wires attached to a micro switch and a polystyrene float inside. If water is in the base, the float rises and activates the micro switch. This is an anti-flood device indicating a leak somewhere.

To find the leak, you’ll need to lift the machine and watch underneath while it’s running. Sometimes, long-running machines can collect steam that condenses into water, activating the float switch.

I suggest removing the base and looking for water stains or leaks. You could also try disconnecting the micro switch during a supervised wash cycle to see if it runs without errors.

Midea is a Chinese company that mass-produces these machines for various brands. Unfortunately, they often lack technical support and adequate information for repairs and parts. I hope this helps point you in the right direction.
