Indesit MTWC71252WUK Washing Machine Not Spinning and Draining
Customer Question
Sajid asks:
I have an Indesit MTWC71252WUK washing machine. Wash Cycle completes but when it enters in Spin and Drain it stops and unlocks. Cloths are washed but come out wet (soaked). When only Spin and drain is run it does the same but can hear drain pump pumping out the water (drain).I took out the motor assuming Carbon bushes are worn out but they seem ok. Please advise.I can send you picture of motor but there is no option to attach pic.

I will try and help with this problem about Indesit MTWC71252WUK Washing Machine,
Hi Sajid, I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your Indesit MTWC71252 WUK washing machine. The first thing you should do is inspect the entire drainage system. If the machine hasn't emptied in time, it won't go into a spin cycle.
Start by removing the sump hose from the washing machine. This hose runs from the drum to the pump and can sometimes get blocked by small items of clothing. While the hose is off, check the heating element inside the drum to ensure nothing is blocking it and stopping water from flowing to the pump.
Even if you can hear the pump running, it doesn't always mean it's pumping water out. Test this by placing the waste hose into a bucket and running a cycle to see how much water comes out. Sometimes, small items like elastic bands can wrap around the impeller, or coins can damage it.
If your waste hose is connected to a sink unit, make sure all fittings are clear and there are no restrictions in water flow. If everything seems fine but you still have issues, the problem might be with the motor.
You can bench test motors; I have videos showing how to do this. Indesit washing machine motors usually have six to eight wires: two for the tachometer, two for the carbon brushes, and others for motor windings. Test all fields and especially between the pin connector on the block terminal going to each carbon brush. Sometimes there's a heat sink in the motor that disconnects if it overheats.
Although you've checked the carbon brushes, carefully inspect their tips to ensure they're not carbonising, which indicates poor contact. If you need a new motor, second-hand ones are sometimes available on eBay or Facebook Marketplace. Also, check all wiring to ensure there’s no metal fatigue and that every wire can conduct electricity properly.
If none of these steps work, you might have an issue with the pressure switch or possibly the washing machine's programme itself. Without seeing the machine, it's hard to be certain. I hope this helps steer you in the right direction. Good luck with your repair!
