Indesit IFW6340IXUK Electric Oven Fan Oven Setting Not Getting to Temperature
Customer Question
Char asks:
Hi, I have an Indesit IFW6340IXUK electric oven. I've recently replaced the fan heating element and the NTC using your very helpful guides. However that hasn't solved the problem. When in fan oven mode, the temperature symbol keeps flashing. All other oven settings work fine

Hi char, thanks for your question about your Indesit electric oven. You mentioned that the fan oven isn't reaching the right temperature, and your model number is IFW63401XUK. You've replaced the fan oven heating element and the NTC sensor, and all other functions work correctly. If the fan motor is running well and the element is in good condition, the issue might be with the circuit board.
First, note that there are four variations of your model since you've given an incomplete model number. You need to find the correct model number on the identification plate; there's a link at the top of the page to help you. I've also included exploded diagrams of your machine below and some helpful videos to understand how your cooker works.
If all functional components are in good condition, it suggests a problem with the circuit board or wiring. Modern cookers have multiple relays on printed circuit boards that control different parts. A relay turns on and off specific components as needed. For your fan oven setting, one relay activates the fan motor, which stays on during cooking. Another relay controls the fan oven element, sending power as required by the NTC sensor.
If a relay is faulty, it won't send power to the fan oven element, so it won't reach the correct temperature. The oven might run cold or not work at all. Relays can be changed on the circuit board, but I can't tell you which one without a workshop manual from the manufacturer. If I had the machine in front of me, I could identify it, but generally, it's a high-amp relay around 16 amps.
Replacing a relay costs less than £10, but a new circuit board is much more expensive. Older ovens used selector switches and thermostats, which were cheaper to replace than modern circuit boards that often fail and are costly to repair.
If someone in your family knows electronics, they could replace the faulty relay once identified. Good luck with your repair! I'm sorry I can't provide more information as Indesit doesn't supply me with workshop manuals or wiring diagrams. Hopefully, this will improve since Beko recently took over Indesit.
