Ikea Valfri Oven Not Heating & Has Stopped Reaching Temperature

Suddenly the Ikea Valfri pnc 944171549-01 Oven has stopped reaching temp. The thermostat light comes on but if we set the temp to 250 it just cant reach it.If we dial the temp dial back to the 50c when it gets to 50 we hear the click noise as the oven thinks its reached temp.Bottom Oven wont heat past the min temp on the dial 50c. if we switch the oven to grill the element glows red and gets hot. When hot the thermostat registers the higher temp with the orange light and the audible click at 200c for example. Since we moved in approx 2 yrs after installation we have not used the top oven as it trips the electrics. Bottom oven has worked fine for 9 years until today.. now it wont heat up on fan setting.

Good afternoon, Matt. From the model number you provided, it seems you have a double oven. You need to check two elements: the base element and the grill element. Use an Ohms reading to ensure they are working correctly.

If the oven isn't reaching the right temperature, I've included some videos below that will help you understand how your cooker works. I also found the full workshop manual, wiring diagrams, and exploded views for your oven.

It can be tricky to pinpoint the problem. The fan should run while both elements produce heat, which the fan distributes around the oven. If it’s not getting hot enough, one of the elements might be faulty or the fan motor may not be running at the correct speed. Sometimes, there could be an intermittent fault with the wiring or a selector switch may not work properly. Occasionally, the thermostat probe inside might have moved too close to an element, giving a false reading and preventing proper heating.

Diagnosing without seeing the cooker is tough, but I’ve gathered as much information as possible from the manufacturer’s database. IKEA ovens are mostly made by Electrolux, which also owns Zanussi and AEG. These are good quality ovens as IKEA chooses its suppliers well.
