Hotpoint TVM570P Vented Tumble Dryer Won’t Spin

Hi Paul,Well we fixed the washing machine. We couldn’t have done it without your videos and help. You’re not going to believe this though. We decided to delint the hotpoint Hotpoint TVM570P vented tumble dryer and do a new tube, so we are safe coming into winter. All went well, we put it back up and turned it on and it worked for 2 minutes, stopped, glowed red in the back, and stopped spinning. 😪😭 sorry I touched it at all. We took the back off, cleaned lint there we hadn’t cleaned and the element is working, the belt is attached and is turning the fan at the back manually. But when we plug it in, we can hear the motor but its not spinning. Any ideas? Can’t dry wet clothes now. And a back log of washing. Is it the starter motor?God bless,Deborah Williams

Sorry to hear about the trouble with your tumble dryer. You've just got the washing machine working, and now the tumble dryer has stopped. At least the weather is decent right now.

Let's see if we can fix this Hotpoint tumble dryer. You mentioned that the belt is still around the drum, but the drum isn't turning. However, you can see the fan blade turning at the back. This suggests that either the pulley wheel has come off the belt or the belt has come off the motor shaft.

You'll need to strip down the machine, remove the right-hand side panel, and check where the belt attaches to the motor at the bottom. I've included some videos below to help you with this. It's not a difficult job, but we need to find out why the belt came off.

Please don't use the machine without the belt attached, as this could damage the heating system due to insufficient airflow.
