Hotpoint TVM570 Tumble Dryer Bearing, Belt & Kit Need Replacing

Sorry to hear about the problem with your Hotpoint TVM 570 tumble dryer. These machines are very good and worth keeping in good condition. If you hear a scraping noise, it's likely the back bearing is worn or has collapsed. Sometimes, the shaft can get damaged when the bearing wears out. The bearing, made of phosphorus bronze, should be replaced every three to five years.

Replacing the bearing isn't too hard, but changing the riveted shaft system is a bit trickier. There's a video below to help you. In the exploded diagram, part 413 is the shaft system for your machine. There are also one of two bearings which could be 424 or 425 in the diagram, depending on your full model number.

When working on your tumble dryer, use a paintbrush and vacuum cleaner to remove as much dust as possible. Dust can wear down the bearing over time by acting like grinding paste. This is one downside of this vented dryer model. Also, clean the ducting tube and carefully vacuum around the motor area to prevent overheating and extend its lifespan.

The belt, part 421 in the diagram, is easy to replace. You'll need your full model number to identify the correct belt using the link above. I've added some videos below to help you replace the bearing, drum shaft spider or drum shaft assembly, and the belt. There are also tips on fitting the stretch belt.
