I have a Hotpoint H2D71WUK Condenser Tumble Dryer. Tested start button for continuity and it seems ok. Timer appears to work as the condenser starts sometimes intermittently and will continue to work until I takd clothes out and then sometimes doesn’t start if I close the door. I’m thinking it may be interlocking mechanism but not sure. The catch on door seems ok. Not sure how to test the timer as I have multimeter. Hope you can help with solution. Hi, sorry to hear about the problem with your Hotpoint Condenser Tumble Dryer. Intermittent starting or cutting out can be caused by several issues. You mentioned you have model number H2D71WUK.

If there's a problem with the door interlock mechanism, it is usually simple to fix. The door has a microswitch on the other side with a bar. When the door locks, it switches this microswitch on. If the connection isn't good and the tumbling clothes move the door slightly, it might disconnect from the mechanism, causing the machine to need restarting. This is a common issue.

Another possible problem could be the electronic filter at the top right-hand side of the machine breaking down under load. You might also have a fault with the electronic timer. It is a mechanical timer and straightforward, but if faulty, its contacts may need replacing.

Without seeing the machine, it's hard to diagnose an intermittent fault. Check the door lock mechanism in the exploded diagram (part number 323). Match any parts to the link provided at the top of the page.

Other issues could include metal fatigue or a broken wire intermittently connecting. Take your time to check for any loose components or broken wires.
