I will try and help with this problem about Hotpoint DHS 53 X S Oven,

Hi John, sorry to hear about your cooker issue. If the cooling fan is staying on, it's usually one of the two thermostats in the diagram below. You should check reference numbers 213 and 214. One of these thermostats controls the fan cooling motor.

Normally, it stays closed circuit until the appliance reaches a temperature of about 70-80 degrees, then it switches to open circuit, allowing electricity to reach the cooling fan. Since Hotpoint doesn't provide the wiring configuration for this machine, it's hard for me to pinpoint which one is faulty. But one of these two thermostats is controlling the fan motor.

You might be able to test this with a multimeter to figure out which one is a cut-out thermostat and which one is a cooling fan thermostat. If you don't have one, you can buy a new multimeter via our affiliate link. Also, note that there are four different variations of your machine. You'll need the correct PNC or identification number to determine which oven you have.
