Having had a problem where my Hoover VT 914D22X/1-80 washing machine struggled to turn the inner drum, I tried turning it manually and it was virtually Impossible. I removed the door seal and found that the inner drum was not concentric with the outer drum. With the door seal removed it was easier to rotate the inner drum but but not as easily as it should be. In various positions the inner drum rubs against the outer drum. I thought maybe the bearing had collapsed but there is no grinding noise that you would expect with collapsed bearings.

Sorry to hear about the problem with your Hoover washing machine. It sounds like the drum has collapsed. This is likely because the aluminium spider inside has broken, not because of the bearings.
The issue with this machine is that it has a sealed drum, so you can't replace the bearings or the spider. We will need to fit a new drum. I know these drums can be expensive, so it's up to you if you want to go ahead with the repair.
I suggest looking for a similar model on second-hand shopping sites like eBay or Facebook Marketplace. Sometimes, you can find a machine with an electrical fault and use its drum to replace yours. These machines can cost as little as £20 and it’s worth trying to keep your machine running. This helps avoid landfill waste and saves you money compared to buying a new drum.
