Hoover DXH9A2TCE80 Tumble Dryer Drum Gets Physically Stuck/Jammed

Hi, I followed your Youtube video on how to replace the drum bearing, it was a great video and very easy to follow but unfortunately it did not fix the problem with my Hoover DXH9A2TCE80 heat pump tumble dryer. My dryer can run for 15 mins, sometimes 30 or 40 mins then randomly the drum sticks, there is a lot of resistance in trying to turn the drum by hand when it gets stuck but it turns freely again if you turn it back and forth a bit. It's like it is mechanically stuck so I figured maybe the bearing so I followed the video and replaced the bearing at the back of the drum and decided to replace the two roller bearings that the drums rest on at the front of the machine too, unfortunately it made no difference. Would you have any other suggestions at all? It's a Hoover DX H9A2TCE80 31101144ThanksDamien

Good morning, Damien. Sorry to hear about your tumble dryer problem. If the drum isn't turning and seems stuck, try releasing the belt from the motor first. This will help you figure out if the issue is with the drum or the motor system.

If the drum turns freely with some resistance after removing the belt, the motor might be faulty, or a fan blade attached to it could be catching on something. However, if the drum still doesn't turn, it could be damaged, catching on the motor, or have a damaged fan blade.

Check the two pulley wheels on the front plate (706 in the diagram), one on each side (230). There might be something obstructing them. Also, inspect for any build-up of fluff or debris around the spigot (205) or check if the drum is warped or damaged. The fan blade attached to the motor (442A) is another common issue as it can warp due to excess heat.

Another possible problem could be with the belt or the two jockey wheels beside the motor (797 in the diagram). These pulley wheels often collapse, twisting the belt and making it feel like the drum is locked. That's why removing the belt helps determine if it's a belt, motor unit, or drum issue.
