Candy ROE H10A2TCE-80 Heat Pump Tumble Dryer Not Drying Properly
Customer Question
Simon Conabeer asks:
Hi. Firstly I love your videos and website. I have a Candy ROE H10A2TCE-80 heat pump tumble dryer. Recently it has started to not dry the clothes properly and I have noticed that the water container in the door is not filling up that much, in fact it is a tiny amount of water that appears in it. It also doesn't seem to be getting as warm as it used to. I know this type of drier does not get very warm but it's definitely not as warm as it used to be.My first thought was a failed NTC sensor. I have checked the sensors and all appear ok. I have checked the one on the top of the plastic lid which encloses the condenser and evaporator. I have also checked the one on the front of the machine by the lint collector and also the one that sits within the pipework for the compressor. Like I said all appear ok and the ohms rise and fall depending on the temperature. I do not have the manufacturers tolerances but they all do rise and fall by similar amounts. The water pump is working fine as when I pour water into the tray it empties it and pumps it into the water collector in the door. I have also cleaned the condenser and evaporator as there was a fair amount of fluff on them.I am now at a total loss of what it could be. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I will try and help with this problem about Candy ROE H10A2TCE-80 Heat Pump Tumble Dryer,
Hi Simon,
Sorry to hear about the problem with your heat pump tumble dryer, model number ROEH10A2TCE80. Let me explain how the system works. A heat pump tumble dryer is like a small fridge. It uses a coil from the compressor to heat the air going into the machine. This warm air then travels through your clothes as they tumble. The air goes through a filter at the front of the door and then through a ducting unit into the cold side of the refrigeration unit. Here, the warm, moist air condenses on the pipes, turning into liquid that trickles down to the pump. The pump moves this liquid to the collection tray, and this process continues until your clothes are dry.
The heat for drying comes from the hot side of the refrigeration unit. If the compressor isn't working well, it won't get hot enough, making it take longer to dry and not condense much water. If there's a gas leak in the system, it will cause similar problems.
The most common issue with heat pump tumble dryers is restricted airflow. Fluff can stick to cold surfaces and build up over time due to poor filtration or bad maintenance. If airflow is restricted, it can't evaporate or condense water properly. Fluff on the pipes can also cause corrosion, leading to gas leaks over time.
Heat pump tumble dryers are often more expensive than vented or condenser dryers. While they save energy by using only 500-600 watts compared to over 2 kilowatts for conventional dryers, they usually take twice as long to dry clothes. The energy savings are only worth it if the machine lasts a long time. If it fails within five years, there's no real benefit because you haven't saved enough energy to make up for the higher price.
I've got a workshop manual and wiring diagram for your dryer, along with exploded diagrams showing all its components. I hope this helps you with your repair. If it's just a blockage, great! But if the compressor isn't working or there's a gas leak, repairs might be too costly.
I hope this information helps you. Have a great day.
All the best,
Paul
