I have a Candy GVSH9A2DE-80 Tumble Dryer. Replaced the capacitor but issue is still there, when trying to spin the drum by hand it is stiff. Would I be correct in thinking it is most likely an issue with the motor. If I have the top off and give the drum a little help it will spin but often part way through the cycle it will stop and there will be noise coming from the dryer. The belt is intact and good condition

Thanks for your question about your Candy tumble dryer, model GVSH9A2DE-80. You mentioned you replaced the capacitor on the motor, but the drum still has trouble turning. However, you can get it to turn by pushing it by hand.

First, did you replace the capacitor with a reputable one? Sometimes, faulty capacitors are sold, especially from less reliable brands. It's best to use the same brand metal case type for Hoover and Candy dryers. Chinese capacitors can often be below standard.

Next, did you wire the capacitor correctly? It's important because there are two sides to a capacitor: the feed in and the feed out. Miswiring can cause issues.

Also, check if the drum is too stiff. Remove the belt from the motor and see if the drum turns easily. Try running the motor without the belt as well. Inspect the two fan blades to ensure they aren't catching on any plastic parts.

If everything seems fine, the issue might be with the motor itself. It could be weak and unable to handle the load.
