Candy CS C8DF-80 Condenser Tumble Dryer Drum Is Stiffing To Turn
Hi there, I have noticed that my Candy CS C8DF-80 tumble dryer is very stiff to turn by hand. It's 5 years old now, and I don't know if it has always been this way. It still operates, there's no buzzing that I can hear, but I just wondered if you had any experience with this model and if you could advise how easy it should be to turn the drum manually. My main fear is that if this is not normal, friction build up while in use could cause a fire. Thank you.

Great question about your candy tumble dryer. It's tricky to describe how hard something is to push in text. However, if you remove the lid and turn off the power, you should be able to push the drum with your palm without much force. There will be some resistance due to the drum bearings.
At the back, there’s a phosphorous bronze bush connected to the drum shaft. The belt around the drum adds a lot of tension, making it harder to turn. At the front, there are no bearings, just roller supports and a felt pad. This pad keeps air inside the drum and stops it from escaping into the rest of the machine. It can easily clog with fluff.
As your machine is five years old, it’s worth cleaning it thoroughly now to extend its life. It’s nearly impossible for manufacturers to stop fluff from building up where it shouldn’t; that’s just how dryers work. A cleaner machine will dry more efficiently.
