Bush BCGBTD8HP Heat Pump Tumble Dryer No Power At All to the Display
Customer Question
Gwyn asks:
Hi Paul,I've got a Bush BCGBTD8HP heat pump dryer. The long number is SN: 00746633010300630013.The machine is 2 years old and in good nick. One morning my wife went to it and there was no power, nothing lighting up on the display. Tested the fuse, good. Power going through the EMI filter to the circuit board. Brown wires are live using a multimeter. I've put a multimeter on the front NTC and showed continuity (didn't go any further). Trying to work out if it's a circuit board issue or something simpler like a thermal fuse- although would this stop all power tk the control panel? Thanks for the videos so far, very clear. Just wondering if you had any ideas?RegardsGwyn

Hi Gwyn,
Thank you for your question about your heat pump tumble dryer. These dryers, made by Bush, are usually manufactured by a company called Vestel. Your model number is BCGBTD8HP. Unfortunately, Vestel does not provide me with the information needed to help you properly.
However, I have found links to all the spare parts for this machine at the top of the page. I also made a video to help diagnose problems with heat pump tumble dryers, but your issue sounds more serious.
First, check the two wires coming from the electrical filter where the mains cable enters the machine at the back right-hand side. These wires should lead to the circuit board area. Follow them and test to ensure they have 240 volts. If there are 240 volts going into the circuit board but no display is illuminated, there could be a problem with the circuit board.
Without having the machine in front of me and without technical information from the manufacturer, I can't offer much more help. However, inspect the circuit board for blown tracks or faulty components like diodes and resistors.
If your machine is only 2 years old, it should still be under warranty, as all machines in Europe have a standard 2-year guarantee. Some manufacturers only provide 12 months in the UK, which is questionable. Since Bush was sold by Argos, it might be worth contacting them to explain that your machine has failed within such a short period.
If the circuit board is faulty, don't assume replacing it will fix everything. A faulty component like the compressor or motor could cause an electrical short and damage a new circuit board as well. You need to correctly diagnose the fault before replacing any parts.
Good luck with your repair, and I apologise for not being able to provide workshop manuals or technical information on this model.
