I will try and help with this problem about Britannia SI9T6LS Dual Oven,
Hi Robert, I'm sorry to hear about the problem with your Britannia range cooker. Gottak switches are usually reliable, and I don't often see issues with them. However, the numbers you provided don't help me identify the correct Gottak number. You should look for a six or seven-digit number stamped on the red casing, usually on the side.
The switch might have failed because people sometimes use the oven incorrectly. Always select the selector switch first before turning on the thermostat for the specific oven. Doing it the opposite way regularly can cause sparking on the contacts. Loose connections can also be a problem. Make sure all spade terminals connecting to the selector switch are tight and not loose, as this can cause excess load on the point contacts.
I think the part number you need for your oven is 850900, but I can't be 100% sure until you provide the correct information. Soon, you'll be able to search our website for all Gottak switches, as we will regularly stock them.
I've added a couple of videos below. They show how to replace selector switches and explain why they fail, including details about the load process on selector switches. I hope this helps. Good luck with your repair!
