Bosch SMS40T32UK dishwasher won’t fill, checked water, light does not come on

I will try and help with your dishwasher problem

If the washing machine is powering on but not taking water in, there are a few things you can check. when you say it looks like its going to work I assume you mean that you can hear the dishwasher pump working to remove any residual water that may be inside. But because thinking is not the same as knowing, you can test the pump by manually filling the machine with water and starting a program. If the machine empties then the pump is working.

Next you can check the inlet water valve to check if it is opening and allowing water in. I will link a video below on how to test them.

Lastly this can be a problem with the flow jug impeller, or the inlet matrix. In this specific model, the impeller its built into the matrix. The diagram below shows the matrix identified by number 0401. You can remove the side panel to expose this matrix a see it as the machine is working. Sometimes limescale or slime might collect inside the narrow channels in the matrix a prevent water from flowing in. It is hard to clean it up without using an airline or some other clever way of getting into the affected areas. If its clean or has  blockages that you can't clear then you will need to replace the flow matrix. See link to the matrix by clicking on its picture.
