Beko XTC611 Oven Not Holding Temperature
Customer Question
Graeme Veitch asks:
Hi, our main oven is fluctuating in temperature. Just wanted to confirm that this is a symptom of a faulty thermostat and which thermostat we need and if you had a video on replacing it? Thank you.
Model: XTC611

I will try and help with this problem about Beko XTC611 Oven,
Hi Graeme, sorry to hear about the trouble with your Beko XTC611 oven.
Several factors could contribute to your oven not holding temperature. One common cause is a faulty heating element. The heating element is responsible for generating the necessary heat for cooking, and if it is damaged or burned out, the oven will not heat up. Even if the fan and light are functioning, a broken heating element can prevent the oven from reaching the desired temperature.
Another possibility is a malfunctioning thermostat. The thermostat regulates the oven's temperature, and if it is not working correctly, the oven might not heat up properly or might take an unusually long time to cook food. A faulty thermostat can misread the temperature, leading the oven to believe it is at the correct heat level when it is not.
The first thing to check is the heating element. You can use an ohms reading to check if the element are working correctly using an ohms law calculator, or simply do a continuity check across the two connections on the element. If the element is open circuit, it needs replacing. To get a new element, use this link since it will take you directly up to our shop page.
If the element tests fine, another issue might be present. If there's no power going to the element, it could be one of two faults. Either the thermostat isn't allowing power to go to the element, which you can check by testing if power goes into and out of the thermostat until it reaches the desired temperature and disconnects.
The selector switch might also have a burnt connection, a common issue when people don't use it correctly. Always set the selector switch to the appropriate setting before turning on the thermostat. Otherwise, arcing can occur inside and cause it to burn out. Selector switches can usually be inspected visually.
Another possible problem is that the relay on the timer might be open circuit and not energising, preventing power from reaching the selector switch or thermostat, and thus not sending any power to the element.
I've included a workshop manual and video on heating faults with ovens that might help you. If you need more help, feel free to contact me. I've also added some useful videos about this error and other faults that can occur on Beko ovens.
In the video, I mentioned about 5 common problems.;
- Oven will not heat because the element is faulty.
- Oven won't heat because timer on manual.
- Oven won't heat because of a fault with thermostat or selector switch.
- Oven not cooking evenly (one element faulty or fan not working correctly).
- Oven not reaching temperature normally an element but possible fan motor.
Coomon Problems with Electrical Ovens
- The oven will not turn on
The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not on auto if it is, turn it on to manual.
- No Heat in Oven
If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.
- Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill
This is normally an element that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault.
- The grill element doesn't work
This would usually indicate that the grill element is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature.
- The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy
The fan motor may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems.
- The oven overheats and burns everything
Normally this is a simple thermostat failure which would manifest itself as this symptom.
- The oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while
This is an overheating problem which can be caused by the fan motor or main oven thermostat or a faulty safety thermostat that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of the cooling fan, where fitted, but usually these go noisy before failing, Safety thermostats are used to prevent the oven or cooker overheating and will shut the oven down.
