Customer Question

Hi Paul,I have a Beko 8kg 1400 rpm a++ WMB 81442 LW excellence washing machine, after doing the diagnostic test mode the only step that did not work was the anti-clockwise rotation, the error code that showed was 15:26 E18, can you tell from the error code what might be the issue and what parts would be required to fix it?Cheers

Hi Jim,

Error code E18 is "unbalanced load detected". There can be a few factors that cause this error. The most obvious one is exactly wheat the description of the code says. You could have an unbalanced load trying to spin.

Apart from that there are three things you can check:

1 - Check the pump for any blockage. If the machine still has water on when trying to do the spin cycle it will cause it to shake uncontrollably and that will bring the error up.

2 - check that the brushes on the motor are not worn. A worn brush may prevent the motor to turn correctly in one direction.

3 - if both pump and motor brushes appear to be ok, you might have a PCB fault, most likely on a relay. This is more common than you would think, and many good machines get scraped when most people could fix it themselves for under 20£, that's even including the cost of a soldering iron.
