Customer Question

David asks:

I've noticed that my Beko BBIMA13300X oven is cooking food way too fast, and everything is coming out burnt, even at lower temperatures. It feels like the oven is running way too hot, but I can't figure out why. I've tried different recipes and settings, but nothing seems to help. Thought like maybe you could help me out. Is there something wrong with the elements, thermostat or a sensor?

I will try and help with this problem about Beko BBIMA13300X Oven,

Hi David, sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with your Beko BBIMA13300X oven.

When an oven consistently overheats to the point of burning everything, the issue typically points to a problem with the temperature regulation system. Several components could be responsible for this malfunction, and below you'll find a couple of suggestions on how to diagnose and fix the problem. To further assist you with your Beko BBIMA13300X oven, I have also attached exploded diagrams, a guide to common electrical oven issues, and relevant videos that specifically address thermostat faults.

A primary cause for an oven getting too hot is often a faulty thermostat. The thermostat's function is to regulate the internal temperature, so if it is not operating correctly, the oven can easily climb to temperatures far exceeding the desired setting.

Another possibility is an issue with the temperature sensor. If the sensor is malfunctioning, it cannot accurately read the oven's internal heat. This failure leads to the heating element staying on for an extended period, which in turn causes the oven to overheat. You can locate this sensor by looking for a capillary tube inside the oven that connects the thermostat to a probe, which is usually mounted at the top of the oven's interior. It is important to check that this probe has not been knocked loose or moved from its position. Additionally, inspect the thin capillary tube for any kinks or damage. This tube is filled with a special gas that expands as it heats up, and this expansion is what physically signals the thermostat to cut power to the heating element once the correct temperature is reached.

To resolve the overheating, you should begin by inspecting the thermostat and the temperature sensor. If you own a multimeter, you can use it to test whether these components have proper electrical continuity. If you don't have a multimeter, you can buy a new one via our Amazon affiliate link.

I've included a workshop manual and videos on overheating faults with Beko BBIMA13300X ovens that might help you. If you need more help, feel free to contact me.

In the video, I mentioned about 5 common problems.;

  1. Oven will not heat because the element is faulty.
  2. Oven won't heat because timer on manual.
  3. Oven won't heat because of a fault with thermostat or selector switch.
  4. Oven not cooking evenly (one element faulty or fan not working correctly).
  5. Oven not reaching temperature normally an element but possible fan motor.

Coomon Problems with Electrical Ovens

  • The oven will not turn on

The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not on auto if it is, turn it on to manual.

  • No Heat in Oven

If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.

  • Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill

This is normally an element that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault.

  • The grill element doesn't work

This would usually indicate that the grill element is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature.

  • The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy

The fan motor may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems.

  • The oven overheats and burns everything

Normally this is a simple thermostat failure which would manifest itself as this symptom.

  • The oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while

This is an overheating problem which can be caused by the fan motor or main oven thermostat or a faulty safety thermostat that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of the cooling fan, where fitted, but usually these go noisy before failing, Safety thermostats are used to prevent the oven or cooker overheating and will shut the oven down.
