I will try and help with this problem about Beko BBIE12301XMP Single Oven,
Hi Laura, I'm sorry to hear about the burning smell coming from your Beko BBIE12301XMP oven. When a burning smell persists despite thorough cleaning, it can be quite concerning. There are several potential causes for this issue. I've also included exploded diagrams, common problems with electrical ovens, and related videos on burning smell issues with Beko BBIE12301XMP ovens below that might help you.
First, you didn't explain if the smell is electrical burning or food debris burning. To start, look at the exploded diagram below. You'll see a panel protecting the fan of an element, marked as number 97. Fat could build up behind this panel, so it's worth removing it and cleaning behind there. Disconnect the electricity first since you'll be exposing the element.
Also, make sure the top of the oven around the grill area is clear. Food often spills and builds up there. If it's an electrical smell, it might be a component burning. This could be something simple like the fan motor not turning at the right speed and heating up.
It could also be a common issue with the selector switch, which lets you choose cooking settings. You can usually inspect this switch for any burnt contacts, as plastic can burn due to arcing points. This often happens when people don't use the cooker correctly by setting the thermostat before turning the selector switch.
Always turn the selector switch first before heating the oven to prevent arcing on the contacts. Below are some other possibilities, but they are rare occurrences.
One common cause is residue or grease buildup in areas that are not easily accessible or visible. Even if the oven looks clean, there might be grease or food particles trapped in the vents, under the heating elements, or around the fan. When the oven heats up, these residues can burn and produce a strong smell.
Another possibility is that the insulation around the oven cavity has been exposed or damaged. If the insulation gets too close to the heating elements or if it's deteriorating, it can start to burn and emit a smell. This can happen over time with regular use or if the oven has been subjected to particularly high temperatures.
It's also worth considering that the smell could be coming from the electrical components. A faulty wire or connection can cause a burning smell, even if there’s no visible damage.
To address these issues, you can start by checking the less visible parts of the oven for any hidden grease or residue. Remove the heating elements if possible and clean around them thoroughly. Additionally, inspect the oven vents and fan area for any buildup.
If cleaning doesn't resolve the problem, it might be a good idea to check the oven’s insulation. This usually requires removing the back panel of the oven to inspect the insulation material. If you notice any signs of damage or exposure, the insulation may need to be replaced.
I've included exploded diagrams and videos on how to remove and replace the parts from electric ovens that might help you solve the problem with Beko BBIE12301XMP. All part numbers and exploded diagrams are also listed below. If you need more help, feel free to contact me.
In the video, I mentioned about 5 common problems.;
- Oven will not heat because the element is faulty.
- Oven won't heat because timer on manual.
- Oven won't heat because of a fault with thermostat or selector switch.
- Oven not cooking evenly (one element faulty or fan not working correctly).
- Oven not reaching temperature normally an element but possible fan motor.
Coomon Problems with Electrical Ovens
- The oven will not turn on
The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not on auto if it is, turn it on to manual.
- No Heat in Oven
If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.
- Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill
This is normally an element that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault.
- The grill element doesn't work
This would usually indicate that the grill element is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature.
- The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy
The fan motor may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems.
- The oven overheats and burns everything
Normally this is a simple thermostat failure which would manifest itself as this symptom.
- The oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while
This is an overheating problem which can be caused by the fan motor or main oven thermostat or a faulty safety thermostat that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of the cooling fan, where fitted, but usually these go noisy before failing, Safety thermostats are used to prevent the oven or cooker overheating and will shut the oven down.
