Beko BBAIF22300 Oven Not Heating Tripping Electricity

June 30, 2025

Customer Question

Peter asks:

I have a Beko BBAIF22300 oven that's not heating. When I turn the oven on it works, but after a few minutes it trips the electric on the fuse board, I'm just trying to confirm which element to buy fan oven element or the grill element. I'm not too sure which element is tripping the electricity supply or is it another component on the cooker?

I will try and help with this problem about Beko BBAIF22300 Oven,

Hi Peter sorry to hear about your problem with Beko BBAIF22300 Oven. A faulty fan oven heating element is the most frequent reason an oven won’t heat up. This component is responsible for generating heat, so if it's damaged or burned out, the oven won’t warm up even if the fan and light still operate normally.

Begin by inspecting the fan oven element. Your specific model uses an 1800-watt element. You can test it using a multimeter either by measuring resistance with Ohm’s Law Calculator or simply performing a continuity test across the two terminals. If there’s no continuity (meaning the circuit is open), the element will need to be replaced.

You can refer to the exploded diagram below to locate the fan oven element. Use the reference number from the diagram to find the correct replacement part. You can order a new fan oven element with this link.

If the element is functioning properly, the next step is to check if power is reaching it. Verify that the thermostat is passing current through power should enter and exit the thermostat until the desired temperature is reached, at which point it should cut off.

Also, examine the selector switch. If it has a burnt or damaged contact, it may disrupt the power supply. This can often happen if the temperature is adjusted before setting the function. Always set the cooking function first, then the temperature. Burn marks on the selector switch are usually visible. Here is the link for a new selector switch.

There’s also a chance the timer relay isn’t working, which would stop power from reaching the heating circuit. If the relay is open circuit, it won’t activate the heating element.

In summary, check the following in this order:

  1. Check the fan oven element for visible damage and test it for continuity.
  2. Use a multimeter to confirm the thermostat is functioning.
  3. Although you've already looked over the wiring, a professional inspection may reveal deeper issues.
  4. If all else checks out, consider a fault in the control board or timer relay.

Since the heating element is the most common culprit, it’s the best place to start. A workshop manual and useful videos are included below to help you through the repair, along with diagrams and part numbers for easy reference.

In the video, I mentioned about 5 common problems.;

  1. Oven will not heat because the element is faulty.
  2. Oven won't heat because timer on manual.
  3. Oven won't heat because of a fault with thermostat or selector switch.
  4. Oven not cooking evenly (one element faulty or fan not working correctly).
  5. Oven not reaching temperature normally an element but possible fan motor.

Coomon Problems with Electrical Ovens

  • The oven will not turn on

The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not on auto if it is, turn it on to manual.

  • No Heat in Oven

If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.

  • Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill

This is normally an element that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault.

  • The grill element doesn't work

This would usually indicate that the grill element is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature.

  • The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy

The fan motor may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems.

  • The oven overheats and burns everything

Normally this is a simple thermostat failure which would manifest itself as this symptom.

  • The oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while

This is an overheating problem which can be caused by the fan motor or main oven thermostat or a faulty safety thermostat that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of the cooling fan, where fitted, but usually these go noisy before failing, Safety thermostats are used to prevent the oven or cooker overheating and will shut the oven down.
