I’m having a problem with my AEG L6AMZ48FL washing machine. After the wash cycle finishes, the machine doesn’t drain the water at all, and I’m left with a drum full of water. I’ve tried running a separate drain cycle, but the water still won’t go down. I checked the filter, and it seems clean. Could there be a blockage elsewhere, or is it a pump issue? What can I do to fix this?

I’m sorry to hear you're having trouble with your machine. This issue is quite common. To start, set up the washing machine so the waste pipe drains into a bucket during testing. This will allow you to see if any water is coming out. Sometimes the water only trickles out, and if it doesn’t drain within the set time, the machine may shut off prematurely.

You can also use a screwdriver to check that the impeller spins freely. Small objects like elastic bands or bits of clothing can sometimes stop the motor from turning.

Next, check the sump hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the drum. Remove it and check for small items like baby socks or fabrics that may be stuck inside. There could also be an anti-siphon ball in the hose, which is normal and helps keep detergent in the drum.

If all of these areas seem clear, the issue might lie with the pump itself or with something blocking the drain pipe from the pump to the back of the machine. You can test this by blowing air through it.
